What's New?

Summer Time!

The start to the summer has been hot and dry. As a result we have been able to make some excellent first cutting hay.

Pastures are hurting due to lack of rain, but we think there is still some nutritional quality in the burnt up grass that we do have.

We got bulls out in breeding pastures on schedule. All the herd bulls look awesome and are really carrying themselves well through the breeding season.

Some of our feedlot cattle are starting to be harvested and the carcass results once again follow our ultrasound data and make a lot of sense. It’s nice when things make sense.

Calf crop:

Calves really look great. We are really pleased how the breeding program is working and everyone that has stopped has commented about the consist quality of the cattle.

It gives us even more encouragement that we are able to increase the predictability of our genetics.

Sales:

Thank you to all our spring bull and female buyers! We will have a great selection of bulls and bred commercial females this fall.

Looking Forward:

We will be pulling bulls on July 25 th and then combining the mobs into larger groups. We have a lot of building to do this summer and fall as far as fence lines and pens.

We will be taking a string of bulls to the New York state fair at the end of August. We think this is going to be an extremely impressive set of bulls that will not be lacking in power.

We will be working with Dr. Baker of Cornell University in working on a brood cow feed efficiency model. We will start collecting data this fall at weaning. We are really excited about the chance to participate in this project as feed efficiency continues to show its extreme relevance as feed stuffs raise in price.

If you are ever in the area please feel free to stop by.
